Next PlayStation PC Game Is Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Leak Claims
Newly leaked information suggests Sackboy: A Big Adventure will mark the next major PlayStation exclusive to migrate to PC. This isn't the first time that leaked details have hinted at Sackboy's 2020 adventure potentially appearing on non-PlayStation platforms. The title counted among those listed in the massive GeForce Now leak, which hit the web in mid-September.
Sony Interactive Entertainment's interest in porting its exclusive projects to PC shows no sign of slowing. The first of such ports arrived in August 2020, upon the launch of Horizon: Zero Dawn on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Details in one of the publisher's financial reports later confirmed that Sony garnered a 250 percent return on investment with Horizon's PC release. Since then, Days Gone has also launched on Steam and EGS. God of War will make the jump in January 2022, the publisher recently announced. During last months' digital PlayStation Showcase event, Sony revealed PS5 and PC versions of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which should hit stores sometime in early 2022.
Redditor penguin6245 (via Twitter user Nibel), recently found a SteamDB page that points to a possible PC release for Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The Reddit user identified two major hints, one being a mention of the depot name "Marmalade Content" - Project Marmalade constituted the designation for Sackboy in the aforementioned GeForce Now leak. A second giveaway resides within a SteamDB branch called "sumoqa," a possible link to A Big Adventure developer Sumo Digital.
Though all of the above looks and sounds incredibly convincing, the Sackboy leak shouldn't be taken at face value just yet. It's certainly not beyond the realm of possibility, though. After all, if Sony is willing to bring PlayStation touchstones like Uncharted and God of War to PC, it seems safe to assume that pretty much anything is on the table.
Helmed by LittleBigPlanet 3 developer Sumo Digital, Sackboy: A Big Adventure hit stores shelves for PS4 and PS5 in late 2020 just in time for the new console launch. The production team continues to support the platformer with DLC releases, too, the most recent of which introduced new skins modeled after The Last of Us Part II's Ellie and Abby.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is available digitally and at retail for PS4 and PS5.
