Vanderpump Rules: Why Katie Maloney Should Avoid Working With The Toms
On Vanderpump Rules, Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, and Tom Sandoval might want to avoid becoming business partners. Sometimes, it seems like Tom and Tom have a more intimate relationship than Katie and her husband. When it comes to the Toms' businesses, a lot of their time is monopolized. Their restaurant with Lisa Vanderpump, TomTom, recently reopened with a strict vaccine policy. The business dynamics can sometimes leave Katie feeling like she's on the outside. During the show's season premiere, the Toms revealed that they are opening a new bar and restaurant. Katie suggested that she get involved, but that may not be the best idea.
Schwartz and Katie have had a long romance with dizzying highs and dramatic lows. Their ability to stick together seems to be at the heart of their romance. However, Katie's tendency to berate and belittle Schwartz when she drank too much was a major issue. Schwartz is also guilty of lashing out at Katie, sometimes in a very disrespectful way. The couple thrives when they find ways to calmly communicate, show gratitude towards one another, and rekindle their chemistry in the bedroom. Apparently, Katie and Schwartz were trying to get pregnant before season 9. Meanwhile, there is significantly less conflict when it comes to the Toms' "bromance." The main issue between the friends is that Sandoval sometimes scoffs at Schwartz's ideas because he doesn't take his buddy seriously.
Katie suggested she take on a role at the Toms' new restaurant. While she was growing up, she helped out at her mom and dad's restaurant, and she's been working at Lisa Vanderpumps SUR for longer than most of the other staff members. At costar Scheana Shay's birthday, Katie suggested to Sandoval that she become the Maitre' d. Sandoval doubted Katie would enjoy doing this. When Sandoval told Lala Kent that they planned to name the restaurant "Schwartz and Sandys," Katie had doubts. As a Utah native, Katie also criticized The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The Toms want to capitalize on their marketability, especially after the success of TomTom. Sandoval told Katie, "if you're going to tell me my name is uninspired then I need to see some receipts on what you've done." Katie argued that her husband also wasn't a fan of the name, and Schwartz agreed.
Sandoval's girlfriend Ariana Madix, who is often the peacemaker, said, "a name will present itself that you both are really into." Sandoval, always the diva, said there could be endless contention. Schwartz and Sandoval then pulled away to discuss the issue. Sandoval said, "I care if you like it, I don't give a f**k if Katie doesn't like it." To be fair, Katie has started ventures in the past, such as her podcast "You're Gonna Love Me" and her beauty blog, Pucker and Pout. Sandoval, who also loves makeup, should support Katie. Although her businesses didn't prove to be as successful as TomTom, Sandoval's inability to respect Katie or her accomplishments doesn't bode well for a future collaborative coworking situation.
It's natural that Katie wants more time with Schwartz, as well as a role in a business that will directly impact her finances. However, Katie would likely benefit more from stepping out on her own. The constant ego clashes that working with Sandoval would bring might hinder productivity. Furthermore, she will probably only receive the respect she deserves if she builds her career independently. Ultimately, Katie is an innovative, driven, and confident woman whose advice would benefit the Toms. However, based on the long history of drama on Vanderpump Rules, Katie would likely thrive working elsewhere.
