You Season 4 Could Have The Highest Kill Count Yet | Screen Rant
Buoyed by a fresh setting, You season 4 could very well have the highest kill count of the series yet. You season 3 delivers a suitably distressing amount of gore and bloodshed that audiences have come to expect from the viral Netflix crime thriller, with Joe's (Penn Badgley) murderous ways supplemented by his equally psychotic partner, Love. In typical killer-on-the-loose fashion, Joe once again escapes comeuppance in the finale of You season 3, fleeing to the idyllic setting of Paris, which will no doubt act as a fresh feeding ground for the affable serial killer.
You season 3 wastes no time in laying down a bloody marker to convey how high the stakes are in the suburban compound of Madre Linda. As early as the first episode, Love (Victoria Pedretti) cuts down Natalie (Michaela McManus) with a fire ax in a fit of rage before quickly going on to bludgeon an unsuspecting Gil (Mackenzie Astin). Joe's heinous acts stack up equally quickly, despite his protestations to the contrary, with the brazen stabbing of Ryan Goodwin (Scott Michael Foster) in public being the decided pick of the bunch.
Yet, You season 4 could have the highest kill count yet, owed primarily to the brand new setting of Paris, France. Joe moving to a new country where he has to learn new customs and a new language means his greatest weapon, his veneer of charm, is erased. Parisians, therefore, can expect to see Joe in Netflix's You's new season more clearly as the monster he really is, meaning Joe must rely more on his skills as a ruthless killer. Joe carving a bloody path through France will also back up You season 3's more accurate portrayal of his character, further defining him as a monster rather than as a likable antihero.
In prior seasons of You, whether in New York, Los Angeles, or Madre Linda, Joe has always fallen back on his effortless charm to instantly win over all but a select few individuals. What Joe has not been shown as entirely capable of to this point, however, is being able to assimilate into an entirely new culture. Joe's ability to convince and convey in English will, at least partially, be stripped away in a foreign country, meaning others can more easily see him for the monster he truly is.
If this is the case, expect Joe's story in You season 4 to carve a bloody path through Paris as he starts to rely less and less on his social skills and more on the serial killing that has come to define him as a character following his unlikeable portrayal in You season 3. The latest Netflix You installment finally paints Joe as a purely selfish individual unable to control his urges, with his pent-up frustrations brutally unleashed on Ryan outside of a busy gym. Joe's relentless search for his new obsession is shown to have already crossed over into Paris, so it is doubtful his psychopathy will take a back seat as You season 4 progresses. With Love out of You's picture, Joe's son Henry in safe hands, and with Joe holding near-complete anonymity in Europe, expect You season 4 to have the highest kill count of the series yet.
