Sports briefs: Pacifics run their win streak to 11 games
The San Rafael Pacifics completed a three-game sweep of Martinez on Sunday, running their win streak to 11 games in the process with a 13-7 victory.
San Rafael (35-9 Pecos) broke open the game with five runs in the top of the third and three more in the fourth to take a 10-1 lead. Beau Dorman had a home run among his two hits and drove in four runs to lead San Rafael offensively. Evan Bacani drove in three runs while hitting leadoff.
Five different San Rafael players had two hits on the game and the Pacifics drew 12 walks in the first 3.1 innings.
Saturday’s contest was much closer with Martinez erasing a three-run deficit to tie the game in top of the ninth inning. San Rafael won the game, 5-4, in the bottom of the frame, with Tyler Georgeson singling home Tyson Thompson with the game-winning run.
Starting pitcher Nathan Lu pitched seven strong innings, allowing four hits, one run and striking out seven. Corey Davis had three hits and drove in a run.
