...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of south central
Franklin, southeastern St. Lawrence and southwestern Essex Counties
through 315 AM EDT...
At 227 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 15 miles northeast of Lowville to 12 miles
north of Big Moose to near Golden Beach Campground to Lewey Lake
Campground. Movement was east at 85 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Tupper Lake, Oswegatchie, Minerva, Newcomb, Piercefield, Horseshoe
Lake, Schroon Lake, Cranberry Lake, Star Lake, Pitcairn, Lower
Oswegatchie, Olmstedville, Aldrich, South Schroon, Conifer, Steep
Bay, Wanakena, Newton Falls and Vanderwhacker Mountain.
This includes Interstate 87 between mile markers 82 and 87.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 AM EDT for
northern New York.
