Jane McDonald left red-faced and grovelling as rickshaw demo on travel show takes disastrous turn
DURING the latest episode of Channel 5’s Cruising with Jane McDonald a rickshaw trip descended into chaos.
The Yorkshire lass was left embarrassed in her latest Channel 5 adventure, which saw her take a cruise on the Ganges Voyager.
While exploring India and fully immersing herself in the culture, Jane decided to travel in a rickshaw to get to one of her tourist attractions, but things quickly took a turn for the worst.
After leaving Kolkata, Jane’s cruise took her to the next stop on the tour, Kalma.
She told viewers that her next trip wasn’t an ordinary trip, as it was remote and off the normal tourist path.
Once the 59-year-old had arrived, along with the other passengers, it was time for them all to have a tour of the village.
They were told they’d be getting around by a rickshaw, which is a passenger cart pulled by one cyclist.
After seeing her transport, Jane said: “I’m so sorry, I should have not had that pudding last night.
“He’s going to have to pedal hard,” the Channel 5 adventurer quipped.
As Jane hopped onto the cart, her cyclist started having some trouble.
In a voiceover, she said: “Okay, I’ll come clean, it was two puddings last night.”
Jane said in the show: “Oh dear, I’m too heavy for him.”
In the end, the man had to get off the bike and started to use his strength to pull Jane instead of pedalling.
A shocked Jane, exclaimed: “He’s having to pull me up the hill!”
She then joked if anybody knew CPR before they made their way to their next destination.
Jane informed the viewers that she was travelling around India in January which is one of the coldest months there.
As she described the cold weather, she said: “It’s quite crisp in temperature!
She added: “Everybody’s still got their scarves and their gloves on as it’s quite cold!”
As she travelled through the streets in a rickshaw, Jane confessed that if it wasn’t for being on this cruise, she would never have done this.
While on the cruise, Jane gave viewers a tour of her lavish suite room onboard.
Jane spoke about the ship saying: “I’ve noticed on this ship that everyone just leaves their doors open.
“You see everyone’s shoes outside the door because every time we come back on the ship, they actually clean our shoes for us.”
Although Jane experienced that rather, embarrassing moment in the show, she shortly recovered and in classic Jane McDonald style, she performed her own version of the popular Madonna song, Ray of Light.
Dressed in traditional India attire, Jane gave viewers a show-stopping performance – entertainment at its finest.
Cruising India With Jane McDonald is available on My5.
