Kemar Roofe targeted by Sheffield Wednesday with Rangers striker viewed as ‘missing link’
KEMAR ROOFE is attracting interest from Sheffield Wednesday.
SunSport transfer expert Alan Nixon has revealed that the Owls are the latest English club to consider a potential move for the Rangers striker.
Fellow League One side Derby County were previously linked with a loan switch for Roofe.
However, SunSport understands that move was a non-starter with the 29-year old firmly remaining a part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first team plans moving forward.
Despite an injury hit spell at Ibrox, Roofe has managed to bag 34 goals in 72 matches since his arrival from Anderlecht two summers ago.
He’s regularly been used as a back-up option to key man Alfredo Morelos, while the Gers have bolstered their attack this window with the signing of Antonio Colak from PAOK.
According to Alan Nixon, Wednesday boss Darren Moore views Roofe as a potential “missing link” for his side.
But as we’ve mentioned, the Light Blues have no intention of letting the Jamaica international go.
Meanwhile, Gers skipper James Tavernier says his side are ready to go to battle for the title this season.
The Light Blues are looking to wrestle the championship back after Celtic were crowned champions last season.

Captain Tavernier, who’s expected to sign a new contract imminently, says the players are raring to go.
He said: “The boys are ready. There’s an in-house game on Sunday for the lads who need a little bit more minutes.
“So the boss is putting everything in place so everyone’s ready for the first game of the season, whoever’s in the starting line-up.
“The boys are raring to go this season. It’s a big year and we want to start it off really well.”
