East Bay pets of the week for July 29
Greetings, we’re Katniss (female) and Peeta (male). In the battle for adorability, there’s no need to choose — we’re both winners! We’re also besties with each other, so we will want to be adopted together as a bonded pair. We will wow you with our engaging affection and entertain you with our playfully adolescent adventures! Please know that I, Katniss, am on the shy side so we’ll thrive best as a bonded pair in a quiet home without young kids. Visit berkeleyhumane.org to learn more and schedule a meeting.

Hi, I’m Achilles! I have a name that fits how these folks found me — with a leg that needed some serious care. My amazing foster owners let me hang out at their house while my broken leg healed, and now I’m finishing physical therapy so I can run as fast as I want to. For now, walks are great and so are belly rubs, and for later, adventure awaits! Let’s start this next journey together, shall we? Set up a time to meet me by emailing adoptions2@eastbayspca.org.

Looking for a great dog to complete your family? Sidney is a sweet, smart, friendly young pittie mix that will make someone a great companion.
She’s super-easy to walk and great with people and other dogs she meets on outings. Only a year old, she loves to play and snuggle. Her only requirement besides your love is that she be your only dog, as she gets a little bossy with other canines sharing living space. Come and meet this pet at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) in Alameda any Wednesday or Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. Visit alamedaanimalshelter.org online for more details.

Cheeto was living outside when he was attacked by other cats. He has limited tenure at his foster home. Cheeto needs you! He’ll thank you by kneading and purring when he sees you and holding your hand as he falls asleep. To meet him, email maxmaxthecat15@gmail.com. Meet more of Community Concern for Cats’ (CC4C) wonderful felines at Saturday and Sunday adoption events from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1250-H Newell Ave. in Walnut Creek.

Myrtle is a sweet old boxer gal that would love a quiet, calm household to retire to. She’s a gentle and affectionate lovebug, and for a bonus she’s house-trained too. She’s looking for a retired or work-from-home person who’d love having her hang out while he or she works. Our dedicated staff at Milo Point Richmond, 220 S. Garrard Blvd. in Richmond, is on duty every day caring for our animals. Contact us for assistance from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. any day except Tuesdays. We’ve saved more than 39,000 lives in 28 years.

This is Moira, a sweet 3-month-old sweet. Timid at first, once she gets to know you she’ll happily enjoy sitting on your lap and being scratched behind her ears. She loves to climb on the scratching post and wrestle with her brother and sisters (which are also available for adoption.) There are adult cats in her foster home as well as a dog, and she gets along with all of them. For more information about this or any other Contra Costa SPCA (CCSPCA) pet, call Pat at 925-323-0667.
