Ex-Everton star Kevin Mirallas makes shock transfer to mid-table Cypriot side AEL after leaving Moreirense
EVERTON cult hero Kevin Mirallas has plunged his career to a new low – by joining a mid-table club in CYPRUS.
The 60-cap Belgium international spent seven years with the Toffees, scoring 38 goals in 186 games.
Winger Mirallas, 34, has also played for top-flight clubs in France, Greece, Italy, Belgium and Turkey.
But he has now penned a one-year contract with AEL Limassol after leaving Portuguese club Moreirense.
AEL finished eighth in the 12-team Cypriot first division last term, and failed to qualify for Europe.
Mirallas won two Greek Super League titles with Olympiacos before his £6million move to Goodison Park in 2012.

He later rejoined the Athens giants on loan in 2018.
A Limassol spokesman said: “AEL Football is pleased to announce the agreement in principle with Belgian international Kevin Mirallas for next season.
“The midfielder, with the very rich resume, will be the holder of the No.11 jersey.
“Kevin Mirallas has made 60 appearances for the Belgian national team. He played more than 150 games in the Premier League for Everton.

“He also played for Fiorentina, Olympiacos and French clubs Saint-Etienne and Lille.
“We welcome Kevin Mirallas to the big AEL family, and wish him success and titles in the blue-and-yellow jersey.”
AEL won the last of their six league titles in 2012, and play at the 13,000-capacity Tsirio Stadium.
