Report: Interest from Bayern could push Spurs into Harry Kane contract talks
The Evening Standard have claimed that Bayern Munich’s public admission of interest in Harry Kane could press Tottenham into starting talks with the striker regarding a new contract.
Kane looks much happier at Tottenham at the moment than he did 12 months ago, with the striker admitting during the club’s pre-season tour to South Korea that he is excited about what the Lilywhites can achieve in their first full season under Conte (Football.London).
However, over the past couple of weeks, senior figures at Bayern have not hidden their admiration for the 28-year-old.
First, the Bundesliga giants’ CEO Oliver Kahn admitted that the Tottenham man would be a ‘dream’ signing (Christian Falk) before head coach Julian Nagelsmann stressed the England captain would score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga, even if he admitted Kane would be ‘too expensive’ for the German side this summer (90 min).
Fabrizio Romano has claimed Spurs will not consider selling Kane under any circumstances this summer and they plan on opening talks over a new deal over the coming months (CaughtOffside).
The Evening Standard have now suggested that Tottenham could even decide to accelerate negotiations over a new deal on the back of Bayern’s interest.
The report states that with Kane now into the final two years of his deal, Spurs do not want to get into a situation where the speculation over his future increases.
It is asserted that the striker is excited by Spurs’ progress under Conte and he believes he can fulfil his ambitions of winning a trophy at the club during the upcoming season.
Spurs Web Opinion
With or without Bayern’s interest, Spurs would have likely opened talks over a new contract with Kane over the coming months. If we do make a strong start to the season and show signs of challenging for major honours, I believe that the 28-year-old will commit his future to the club.
