I was surprised to learn that the famous ballet, 'Swan Lake', by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, also has two versions, for I had only seen the one wherein the hero Prince Siegfried and his lady love Odette - who is cursed by von Rothbart to live days as a swan and nights as a woman - try to break the curse and find that they cannot, so they throw themselves into the lake and die.
