Adele Announces Rescheduled Vegas Residency: "Words Can't Explain How Ecstatic I Am"
Great news, Adele fans: the "30" singer has finally announced rescheduled dates for her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency! On July 25, she shared a heartfelt message via Instagram confirming that "Weekends With Adele" is now set to kick off later this year.
"To be with you in such an intimate space every week has been what I've most been looking forward to and I'm going to give you the absolute best of me."
"Words can't explain how ecstatic I am to finally be able to announce these rescheduled shows. I truly was heartbroken to have to cancel them," she wrote in a caption. "But after what feels like an eternity of figuring out logistics for the show that I really want to deliver, and knowing it can happen, I'm more excited than ever! Now I know for some of you it was a horrible decision on my part, and I will always be sorry for that, but I promise you it was the right one. To be with you in such an intimate space every week has been what I've most been looking forward to and I'm going to give you the absolute best of me. Thank you for your patience, I love you ♥️ Adele."
Adele postponed her Vegas residency just a day before her first show was scheduled to begin on Jan. 20 at the Colosseum at Las Vegas's Caesars Palace hotel. That same day, the "Easy on Me" singer tearfully broke the news in a video posted on Instagram. "I'm so sorry, but my show ain't ready," she said. "We've tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID." Adele went on to reveal that half of her crew and team were sick with COVID and that it had been "impossible to finish the show."
She added: "I'm gutted - I'm sorry it's so last minute; we've been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out, and we've run out of time. I'm so upset, and I'm really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that traveled to get [to the show]. I'm really, really sorry."
During a Feb. 11 appearance on "The Graham Norton Show," Adele shared an update on her residency, though at the time, she made it clear she still wasn't ready to share a new schedule. "We are now working our asses off, but I don't want to announce a new set of dates until I know everything will definitely be ready," she said. "The sooner I can announce, the better, but I just can't in case we are not ready in time. It is absolutely 100 percent happening this year. It has to happen this year, because I've got plans for next year."
She also apologized for the last-minute cancellation, noting, "It would have been a really half-assed show, and I can't do that. People will see straight through me up on the stage and know I didn't want to be doing it. I've never done anything like that in my life, and I'm not going to start now."
Adele initially announced her 12-week, 24-show Las Vegas residency via Twitter on Nov. 30, 2021.
