I’m a hair removal expert – how to banish bikini line rash after shaving for good

ANY shaving you do is automatically ruined when bright red, painful bumps start to break through the skin.

Aesthetician Rosie Khandwala says her approach will protect you from experiencing this rash ever again.

Shaving can cause a ‘razor rash’ which are small red bumps that are painful or itchy[/caption]

Rosie is a hair removal expert and the founder of Sugar Coated, a beauty line that consists of waxing kits made from vegan sugar wax.

Her brand is aimed at preventing “shaving rash.”

“Shaving rash is different from razor bumps which are caused by lots of little ingrown hairs rather than rash from the razor,” she says.

This skin irritation can appear right after you use a razor or can surface later that same day, especially if you’re wearing tight clothes.

Sensitive skin tends to elicit these bumps more, but people who dry shave are just as vulnerable.

Shaving without any soap, water, or cream means there’s no protective barrier to prevent friction.

The obvious solution would be to stop dry shaving.

But as Rosie points out, there’s no guarantee that you still won’t experience razor rash.

Exfoliating, wetting the hairs, using shaving cream, shaving with the grain, using a cold compress on the area, and refraining from wearing tight clothes all help, yet it doesn’t get rid of it permanently.

Rosie’s successful solution is sugar waxing.

According to Healthline, sugar waxing is also referred to as “sugaring” and “removes body hair by quickly pulling the hair from the root.”

When Rosie was growing up in Tanzania, the only method of hair removal that she learned was sugar waxing.

To her surprise, she found this was a gap in the beauty industry in the UK.

Rosie’s Bikini Hair Removal Kit is a gentle and affordable alternative to shaving.

The kit is $11.99 and infuses Calendula Oil with water and sugar syrup.

“It works by pulling hair directly from the root, without tugging on the skin, and leaves you smooth for 4-6 weeks,” Rosie explains.

Prior to using the kit, Rosie suggests allowing your hair to grow for at least four to six weeks.

Once your hairs are at a good length, keep your legs elevated when waxing.

Pull the skin tight and only do small sections at a time.

Make sure to leave enough room on the paper to quickly pull the wax off and pull parallel.

You’re going to need wax strips, a spatula to apply the wax, talcum powder, wax, and wipes.

If you’re trying to do an intimate area, a mirror is helpful to see any hidden spots.

Rosies says to never exfoliate right before waxing because “this can cause your skin to get over-exfoliated and more prone to ripping during a waxing treatment.”

Lastly, applying a cold compress and refraining from taking a hot shower will help reduce any swelling or redness.
