DIY SOS hunk Nick Knowles is making another career change
AFTER presenting DIY SOS for 23 years, you can forgive Nick Knowles for getting itchy feet.
And that’s just what seems to have happened as he signs up to do two new shows with Channel 5.
But he isn’t about to ditch the BBC show just yet. He is simply venturing into a new area, making a pair of travelogues for his latest employers.
A TV insider said: “This is very much a change in direction for Nick, but it’s a challenge he really wants to take on.
“Signing him up for two shows really is a vote of confidence in him, particularly as he only started working with Channel 5 last year.
“But Nick very much fits the vision the broadcaster has for its hosts, who tend to be a little more mature, which appeals to their slightly older viewers.”

Nick flies out this summer to start his first travel show, Nick Knowles’ Big Adventure, which could mean he will be abroad when he celebrates his landmark 60th birthday this September.
Over the past year Nick has made three shows for C5 — Big House Clearout, New Homes and Heritage Rescue — all in the same vein as DIY SOS.
Up to now his biggest foreign TV adventure was spending two weeks in Australia when he was on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity in 2018.
His new shows, which are being made by the same team who gave us Jane McDonald‘s travel epics, see him join the ranks of other stars on the channel who take us to an array of foreign climes.

The illustrious list so far includes Alexander Armstrong, Michael Palin and Ben Fogle.
Think it’s fair to say Nick’s in very good company there.
STRICTLY GRINNERS
IT was all smiles as Amy Dowden was joined by her Strictly pals as she wed Ben Jones.
She beamed while posing with fellow dancers Dianne Buswell, Janette Manrara and Katya Jones in South Wales.
But the joy was quickly wiped off Katya’s face when Amy held a sign, pointing to her, saying: “She’s next.”
Amy posted snaps from the bash on Instagram, showing she was also joined by her most recent celebrity partners on the show – JJ Chalmers and Tom Fletcher – as well as judge Craig Revel Horwood.
The inevitable reception dance to Oops Upside Your Head must have been the most polished ever.

New Boarders
BBC Three and iPLayer have ordered a coming-of-age comedy drama called Boarders.
The six-part series will be created by Bafta-nominated Daniel Lawrence Taylor. It will follow the lives of five underprivileged black students from inner-city London who win scholarships to an elite boarding school.
