Love Island fans call for huge shake-up to final in bid for more drama
LOVE Island fans have called for a major change to the finale to ‘raise the stakes’ in future seasons.
Currently the winning couple walks away with a £50,000 grand prize after the couple votes for the favourite duo out of the top four finalists.
But some fans think there would be more ‘drama’ if the cash prize was increased.
They also argued the prize money – which is split between the winning couple – is not enough for the Islanders who would easily make that in endorsements once they leave the villa.
Many fans called for it be raised to £100,000 or even £200,000, with one fan suggesting show bosses should “just add another zero” to make the prize £500,000.
“Is there even any point in the prize money anymore? It’s almost guaranteed the winning couple will split the money as the islanders will make that £25k within the first 3 months of getting out. Increase it to £250k at least and make it interesting,” wrote one fan on Twitter.
Another added: “How is the prize fund still the same as it was in 2015? Haven’t they seen the cost of living?”
A third wrote: “They really need to up the prize money to like 200k. Nobody will split over 50k, they know they can make that in endorsements. Add to the pot and give us some Goldenballs drama.”
Voting takes place through the Love Island app and is totally free.

And a fourth commented: “They need to add another 0 to that cash prize the stakes are not high enough.”
Viewers will be informed when voting is set to happen during the episode, and each vote will be opened for a period of time, with the closing time specified on screen (usually 15-30 minutes).
The rules state you’ll only be able to vote once per poll per eligible device unless otherwise specified.
On any given vote you are given the option to confirm or cancel your selection at the end.
