Library staff offers
tips on digital items
The library at 1720 Novato Blvd. is offering tutorials to help patrons use e-books and other digital materials.
Staff members will provide 30-minute one-on-one instruction sessions from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursdays.

Children’s play site
approved at center
The city zoning administrator has approved a proposed amusement site for children at 1559 S. Novato Blvd., part of a shopping center.
The applicant, Poppytots Party and Play, wants to offer an indoor playground, party space and lounge or work area for parents and caregivers. The proposed hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends. The maximum attendance would be 12 adults and 15 children.
The zoning administrator held a hearing on Thursday. The approval provides a two-year use permit and includes conditions on noise, signage and other considerations.
The appeal period is 10 days.

Ice cream event set
at Terra Linda hub
The Terra Linda Neighborhood Association will hold a free ice cream social at the community center during National Night Out on Tuesday.
Silbermann’s ice cream will be served from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
San Rafael police and firefighters, Mayor Kate Colin, Councilmember Rachel Kertz and Supervisor Damon Connelly will join representatives from Responsible Growth Marin, Marin Master Gardeners, Northgate Mall developer Merlone Geier and Arbor Park Community Art Project.

Volunteers sought
for senior counseling
The county will hold a seven-week senior peer counseling training course beginning Sept. 13.
The training will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Volunteers 55 and older will learn about issues surrounding aging, basic counseling skills and community resources.
Trained volunteers visit clients weekly at home, by phone or via virtual platforms.
