The Union Cabinet on Wednesday is said to have lowered the railway land license fee to 1.5% from 6% for certain usages. Sources say that the lease period has also been increased to up to 35 years from presently 5 years. Wednesday's development is believed to be in line with NITI Aayog's recommendation to keep railway land leasing fee for containers below 3%.
