Australian economy boosted by consumer spending amid growing challenges

CANBERRA, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Wednesday showed the country's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 0.9 percent in the second quarter this year and 3.6 percent in the 12 months to June.

It marks the third consecutive quarter of economic growth after a contraction in the September quarter of 2021 due to the COVID-19 Delta outbreak, said the ABS.
