Isotta Fraschini HyperCar Looking Unlikely For 2023 WEC

The Isotta Fraschini LMH project, which had been targeting a 2023 FIA WEC entry now seems set to miss that target.

The as yet unrevealed car, designed with input from Williams Advanced Engineering and built by Michelotto, was always an outside bet for the 2023 season but the project, DSC understands, has not yet attracted a funding partner to provide the budget required to pursue the necessary full season commitment.

The project currently has funding appropriate to progressing to, and into, a test and development phase and has been in the build stage for some time.

The driver, initially understood by DSC to be close to a test, development and factory driver role with the effort will be confirmed in the coming weeks as a full season driver with another HyperCar effort.

The Isotta Fraschini project has been actively discussed by its backers with a number of leading teams in the WEC and ELMS paddocks but whilst more than one has acknowledged the contact – and one has pronounced themselves impressed with the planned car, a racing budget has not yet been sourced.

DSC has reached out to both Isotta Fraschini and Michelotto for comment but with no response at time of publication.
