Britain’s Got Talent finalist who shot to fame as choirboy with £1m record deal denies raping two women

A FORMER Britain’s Got Talent finalist who landed a £1million record deal with Simon Cowell today denied raping two women.

Andrew Johnston, 27, who shot to fame as a choirboy on the second series of the show in 2008, allegedly attacked a woman at an address in west London in November 2019.

He is said to have raped the same woman in March 2020.

Johnston is also accused of raping another woman at a flat in Southwark, south London, between January and February 2020.

The singer, from Carlisle, Cumbria, who moved Amanda Holden to tears, came third on BGT and received a £1m record deal with Syco Music, a label owned by Cowell.

His album One Voice, released in September 2008, made it to number five in the UK Charts.

Johnston later worked as a roofer before winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in 2019.

Bearded Johnston, wearing a light blue shirt and black jeans, denied three charges of rape when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court today.

He remains on bail on condition that he does not contact either of the two women ahead of his trial at Southwark Crown Court on July 31, 2023.
