Potter is a heavy odds-on favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge following Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal on Wednesday.
Chelsea club chiefs have acted swiftly to replace the German and got permission from Brighton to speak to Potter about the role.
Despite a reportedly huge compensation clause, Potter looks to be in the driving seat to make the move to West London.
And Aussie Postecoglou – who has been in charge at Celtic for just over a year – is the favourite to replace him.
Postecoglou arrived at Parkhead without any of his own backroom staff and with little time to turn round the turmoil he inherited.
The club’s failed ten-in-a-row bid in 2020/21 left major surgery required last year to respond to Rangers’ title win.
Postecoglou bought well in the transfer market and single-handedly changed the club’s fortunes in no time at all.
Winning last season’s Scottish Premiership saw the club back in the Champions League group stages for this season, where they fought well against Real Madrid in the opening game.
His style of fast, attacking, possession football has earned many plaudits and would suit Brighton’s current style.
Kjetil Knutsen has also been lauded for his football style and is 6/1 second favourite.
The Bodo/Glimt boss has been linked with several top British jobs in the past six months for his work with the Norwegian side.
Thomas Frank (7/1) and Nathan Jones (16/1) come next ahead of club legend Bruno at 10/1.
Mauricio Pochettino was the early frontrunner to take over at Chelsea following Tuchel’s dismissal and leads the betting for several other top sides.
But he’s an outsider for the Amex job at 12/1.
