My eczema was so bad I didn’t want to leave the house for three weeks – I solved it with a £9.50 miracle cure
A MUM has shared her “wonder cure” after using a £9.50 cream to clear up her painful eczema.
Lisa Dispirito, 54, blames the menopause for the sudden breaking out of the skin condition, which left her unwilling to leave her home for three weeks.
Her first thought when she noticed the red swelling on her neck in January was that she had been allergic to some perfume she had got as a Christmas present.
However, the itchy rash began to spread and she quickly realised she had the painful condition, believed to be caused by hormonal changes brought on by menopause.
She said: “Every morning when I got up, I looked in the mirror and it had got worse. I’ve had clear skin my entire life so I was really shocked by it. It honestly made me feel really low and I worried that I wouldn’t be able to get rid of it.
“I didn’t want anyone to see my face and there was a period of three weeks where I didn’t set foot out of the house once.”
Lisa, from Devon, admitted that she was cautious to make a doctor’s appointment as she knew GPs faced long waiting lists.
She soon began to order face creams, desperate to clear up the condition, before finding her miracle cure.

After weeks of high street brands not doing the trick, she came across Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel (£9.50 online) and Hydrosil Turmeric Butter & Hypoallergenic Milk Salve (£10.50 online) sold by Skin Shop.
She reportedly discovered these products after reading an article about another woman who had experienced similar symptoms during the menopause.
“It wasn’t an overnight cure. My skin was so sore that it needed time to heal and I could tell the products were soothing it,” she said.
“Within two weeks, my eczema had cleared up. I couldn’t believe after all this time of stressing and trying out different brands, that this had finally worked.”
The products were so effective she doesn’t even need to use them daily anymore to keep her eczema under control.
“I’m still on my first bottles of the products because I don’t need to use them all the time, just when my skin gets dry again.”
She added that she still gets flare ups from time to time but is able to control them with the eye gel.
Expressing her relief, she said that she “no longer feels like a prisoner” in her own skin.

Consultant dermatologist Dr Eva Melegh M.D. said: “Women entering menopause are more prone to developing dry itchy skin and eczema. The reduction in the hormone oestrogen is what can trigger eczema outbreaks in menopausal women as oestrogen is a major factor for collagen production which keeps skin flexible and moisturised.
“The skin around the eyes and on the neck is particularly susceptible to dryness from a drop in oestrogen, as it’s very thin and so isn’t able to retain much moisture.”
