Any Dream Will Do! talent show format revived by ITV – but with a brand new twist
ITV is set to revive the musical talent contest — this time for hit Abba show, Mamma Mia!
It will follow in the footsteps of TV shows like Any Dream Will Do, How do you Solve a Problem like Maria?, I’d Do Anything and Superstar, in which contestants competed to win leading West End stage roles.
The eight-part series, from the same production team which makes Britain’s Got Talent, could even see the judging panel feature Hollywood star Amanda Seyfried, 36.
She played Sophie Sheridan in the 2008 movie version, alongside Meryl Streep.
Stage show Mamma Mia! — made up of Abba songs — has been a huge hit since its London debut in 1999.
A TV insider said: “ITV are clearly riding the wave of renewed interest in all things Abba, not to mention a renewed interest in hit formats of old.

“This has been seen as an obvious choice for a reboot for years, but producers were waiting for the right musical and right moment.”
Abba have been back in the limelight this year after the band’s hologram virtual stage show, Abba Voyage, proved a huge hit when it launched in London.
The new ITV show, created by Thames and set to air next year, would see a string of rising stars take to the stage in front of a panel of celebrity experts, with the viewing public voting on who makes it through to perform another week.
