[Women's Indoor Track & Field] Women's Track and Field Competes in Early Bird Meet
The Doane Women's Track and Field team competed in the Concordia Early Bird Meet on Saturday in Seward, coming away with three event victories and one provisional qualifying mark.
In the 60-meter dash, Isabel Bothwell (SR/Gretna, Neb.) hit a personal best in prelims as well as in the finals. She ran a time of 7.96 to break her PR set last year in the GPAC Championships in Crete of 7.99 and sat third overall. In the finals, she clocked the fastest time of the day with a time of 7.93. She added a personal best in the 200-meter dash as well.
Caitlyn Cotton (SR/Omaha, Neb.) led the way for the Tigers in the 200 with a seventh place finish and time of 26.80, a personal-best at Doane. Morgan Burnett (SR/Fairplay, Colo.) had the fastest time for Doane in the 600-meter run with a mark of 1:47.83.
The 800-meter run saw Rachel Walters (SR/Gretna, Neb.) win easily with a time of 2:30.84, seven seconds ahead of the next closest runner. Annika Pingel (SR/Pella, Iowa) placed second in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:04.94. Doane's 4x400 relay team of Pingel, Cotton, Walters, and Morgan Mahoney (FR/Beatrice, Neb.) ran a time of 4:14.23 to place fourth.
Sarah Theiler (JR/Arlington, Neb.) recorded the top mark in the high jump for Doane with a clearance of 1.59m (5-02.50) to place fourth. In the pole vault, Kennedy Stanley (FR/Syracuse, Neb.) took second with a height of 3.37m (11-00.75).
Rosalyn Roggasch (FR/Kearney, Neb.) won the triple jump in her first collegiate meet, clearing 10.93m (35-10.50). Abby Fontana (SO/Papillion, Neb.) had the top long jump mark, placing 10th with a leap of 4.51m (14-09.75).
Doane's lone NAIA national qualifying mark came in the weight throw where Macy Fuller (JR/Kearney, Neb.) hit the provisional standard. Her toss of 15.91m (52-02.50) placed fourth overall. In the shot put, the top mark for the Tigers came from Katie VanLaningham (SR/Wilber, Neb.) as she placed 11th with a throw of 11.80m (38-08.75).
The Tigers will head into the holiday break and return to action in 2023 when they host the Ward Haylett Invite on January 7 in Fred Beile Arena.
