Suspected DUI crash on San Mateo-Hayward Bridge leaves one person dead
A traffic collision on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Saturday night caused by a person suspected of driving under the influence left one person dead, authorities said.
At around 11:45 p.m., a vehicle crashed into two stopped vehicles involved in an earlier non-injury collision on the eastbound lanes of the bridge.
The people in the first crash were outside the vehicles when the suspected drunken driver rammed into them, killing one person, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of the bridge until 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
