While talking with Brittany about her new holiday flick (stay tuned for a sneak peek!), she told us that she actually has three favorite Christmas memories.
“There’s three for a reason,” Brittany explained to us.
Her most recent though is all about shaping what Christmas will be like for her and Dustin.
“It was during the pandemic,” she revealed before explaining that it was actually the “first Christmas we were together [for]“…it was heartbreaking because we were supposed to go to my parents’ house for the holidays and he was going to surprise his mom who had been diagnosed with cancer. But then, I got COVID, so we couldn’t go anywhere.”
She continued, “It sucked so much. But we had this really beautiful Christmas where we just were so grateful that we were feeling okay. We were upset because we weren’t seeing family, but we had this really beautiful opportunity to just sort of enjoy the holidays and suddenly realize that like we, we had the opportunity to design the joy that we wanted on that day.”
“It was just really special,” Brittany says.
The other two, Brittany says, were all about when “sister came back to Toronto and we were all together. She brought my niece home and I got to see my niece celebrate Christmas in Toronto for the first time [years ago], and then when she brought home my nephew and getting to meet him and have him at my parents’ house for the holidays.”
“Those were both really special because there’s nothing quite like celebrating Christmas and seeing it through the eyes of a kid. My nephew was really, really young, so he didn’t really get it, but my niece was living it up and I got to cuddle with him,” Brittany added.
This year, the whole family, including Brittany and Dustin, will be gathering in Toronto.
“It’s gonna be the first Christmas that my husband spends with my family after three and a half years [laughs] because we haven’t had an opportunity to spend Christmas together,” she said. “I’m just so excited because my niece and nephew are now six and three and I cannot wait to see their faces on Christmas morning.”
