You’ve been cleaning your plastic storage pots all wrong… an easy 1p hack removes stubborn pasta stains in seconds
NO meal-prep is possible without a hearty bowl of spaghetti Bolognese.
But as much as we love this dish, it also comes with another, less welcome guest – stubborn stains ruining all your once clear plastic containers.
Fortunately, one mum and foodie has come to rescue, sharing an easy cleaning hack that will banish the red tomato stains in an instant.
The best part? Not only does it not require vigorous scrubbing but it also costs just 1p to do – so what are you waiting for?
According to Ashley Roark (@ashleyroark5), believed to be from the US, the answer is simple – kitchen roll.
Demonstrating the life-changing trick on TikTok, the mum first placed some paper roll in her plastic container before filling it up with water and a squeeze of washing soap.
Once the secret ingredients were all assembled together, Ashley put the lid on and gave the box a good shake.
A few seconds later, the cleaning enthusiast removed the lid and viewers were stunned by what they saw.
The kitchen roll had absorbed all the stains and the plastic container was as clear as it was on Day 1.
The game-changer of a hack has since taken the social media platform by storm, racking up a whopping 10.5million views and over 450k likes.
But although many tagged their pals to see the trick, others were less than impressed and claimed the paper towel didn’t do anything.
”Nahhh. It doesn’t work that easy. I’ve tried,” wrote one viewer.

Sharing their thoughts, TikTok fans also revealed how they tackle the issue, with one recommending sunlight.
”I just leave them out side and the color takes of. it takes two days but make sure it’s showing light.”
Another suggested: ”Just use baking soda or vinegar.”
”eh 2 dollars I’ll buy a new one,” read a more simple solution.
But it’s not just the plastic pots that need a good cleaning – our air fryers are in a desperate need for it too, and fortunately there’s a miracle product that makes it a breeze.
The product, already a hit amongst social media users, has gone viral on TikTok, with people scrambling to get their hands on one.
Originally designed by Mess Mat (@messmat.shop) in the US, the mini silicone tray, available in a number of colours, is also shipped here to its UK fans.
Currently on sale for £10, the 20cm silicone tray ”allows the air to travel underneath the food for that desirable crispy finish all the way around”.
For those worried about chemicals, the brand claimed the handy gadget has a high heat resistance of over 280C, making it safe to use.
The lining used also means that washing the tray itself is a breeze – simply put underneath your tap and watch all the crumbs slide off.
”Reusable, eco friendly, and cleans in seconds!” Mess Mat praised their product.
According to them, the silicone material means the tray will also fit for those with square shaped air fryers.
Of course, the must-have product has already taken the internet by storm, as people said they couldn’t wait to get one.
”Ngl actually this is kinda useful,” one foodie commented.
”I need one right now,” another added.
”We have one and it’s great!!!!” a fan claimed.
A fourth was sold in seconds: ”I’ve never bought something so fast.”
