Escape to the Chateau mansion up for sale – for the same price as a tiny flat in London
A MANSION that appeared on Escape to the Chateau is up for sale – for the same price as a tiny flat in London.
The Channel 4 series starring Dick and Angel Strawbridge came to an end earlier this month after six years.
Viewers watched the couple transform the huge property into a stunning home and wedding venue, while also helping other people renovate their homes on Escape To The Chateau DIY.
One property which featured on the spin-off show is now up for sale.
Based in Saint-Maixent-l’École, western France, the stunning chateau has nine bedrooms, seven bathrooms and even its own vintage tearoom.
Spanning 15,000 sq metres, the property is on the market for £724,916.

This is the same price as a one bed in Battersea, London.
The chateau features a lot of regular features including exposed beams, stone walls and two large vaulted cellars.
It also has a self-contained apartment, a small lake with water-side wooden pavilion, stables, a large barn and a hunting lodge.
The listing reads: “Recently restored, this beautiful residence is a magnificent family home while offering a wealth of options for a special events/accommodation activity.
“The Château is already well-known locally and further afield due to its starring role on Ch4’s Escape to the Chateau DIY.
“It has been renovated to a very high standard by the current owners, who have also worked hard to restore it to its rightful place in the hearts and life of the local community.”
It continued: “Whilst preserving the original features, renovation work has included insulation, the creation of a self-contained apartment and studio/gîte.
“Together with its much-loved stylish Vintage Tea Room (fully licensed), Bed and Breakfast Suites and v popular British Food Store! Architectural plans, and permissions to create a further 6 gîtes, a restaurant and a large reception room have already been obtained.”
Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on All4.
