How many episodes of Riptide are there?
There are four episodes of Riptide in total.
The first episode kicks off on Tuesday, December 27 at 9 pm on Channel 5.
The series will air across four consecutive nights at the same time.
All episodes will also be streaming on My5.
What is Riptide about?
Newlyweds Alison (played by Jo Joyner) and Sean (played by Peter O’Brien) have their lives shattered after settling in Australia.
Alison is left devastated when Sean goes out surfing one morning and fails to return home.
After an extensive search of the coast near their home, the police conclude that Sean drowned in a dangerous riptide.
But Alison decides the truth is much more sinister…
Riptide was filmed on location in Melbourne and Victoria, with production squeezed into a few weeks in August 2022.
The series is created by Jason Herbison, who also wrote Lie With Me.
Speaking ahead of the new series, actress Jo said: “I am really excited to be working with the fantastic teams at Fremantle, Channel 5 and 10 in Australia, and playing Alison.
“She is such a warm and layered character whose world is turned upside down, just when it seemed like her life was finally coming together.
“I am also thrilled to be filming in the fabulous city of Melbourne and surrounding countryside, an area that I have always wanted to explore.”
Who stars in Riptide?
Riptide brings with it an incredible cast, which includes a mix of British and Australian actors.
Leading the cast is Jo Joyner, who plays Alison Weston, the main role.
Joyner is well known for playing Tanya Branning in the BBC soap EastEnders, as well Ackley Bridge.
Australian actor Peter O’Brien plays Alison’s husband Sean Weston.
He is best known for playing Shane Ramsay in the original cast of Neighbours.
He also appeared in Casualty, The Bill and Doctor Who.
Corrie actor Ciaran Griffiths joins the cast as Michael Lane.
Griffiths has also starred in The Bill and Shameless.
David Berry from Outlander plays Dan Burrell.
