Brit expat, 70, shot dead as murder cops probe ‘love triangle’ killing & seize his girlfriend’s phone in Thailand
A BRIT pensioner has been shot dead while riding his scooter in Thailand in what police believe is a ‘love triangle attack’.
Retired engineer Neil Roger, 70, had been drinking with friends before travelling home on his moped when he was blasted four times in the back in Pattaya on Thursday evening.
Locals heard the gunshots and found Neil, from Doncaster, in a pool of blood shortly before 10:30 pm.
Four bullet shells were found on the road nearby.
Neil’s younger partner Thitipan Kamlas, 38, arrived at the scene where she collapsed in tears next to her lover’s dead body.
Police and paramedics performed CPR but Neil was pronounced dead on the road after suffering severe blood loss.
Officers have now seized Thitipan’s phone and are interviewing her, with one theory being that Neil was involved in a love triangle in the notorious holiday destination, known for its crime and adult nightlife.
Police Commander Itthipol Itthisaronchai said today that officers were looking at Neil’s ‘financial transactions and who would benefit’ from his death.
He said: “Immigration and tourist police officials have been summoned to assist with the investigation. They will look at his visa extensions and various financial transactions to find out who would get the benefits from the deceased.
“The deceased lived in Thailand for about 20 years and was going in and out of the country. He had a Thai family.
“We are ready to solve the case. The meeting this afternoon was production and CCTV along the routes around the incident are being monitored.”
Police did not reveal what Neil’s girlfriend told them in interviews and she has not been arrested.
In December, a Brit OAP and his partner, 27, were killed in a horror smash when their car was shunted into the path of a 4×4.
The Warwickshire man, 78, was driving with his partner when they were shunted from behind and pushed into oncoming traffic – killing them both, according to police.
Harrowing CCTV footage showed the two men driving a white Toyota Yaris, which slowed down to turn right into a side road before they were shunted from behind by a silver Honda CRV.
The collision pushed the men straight into the path of an oncoming black Isuzu 4×4 pickup truck.
With little time to react, the vehicle smashed into the small Toyota, crumpling it and killing both passengers.
The incident happened in the Sawang Wirawong District, about eight hours northeast of the capital, Bangkok, Thailand.
