Random Vandals Racing Signs Kenton Koch For 2023 SRO and IMSA Seasons
Random Vandals Racing have announced that Kenton Koch will drive one of the team’s new 2023 BMW M4 GT4s in the SRO Pirelli GT4 America series, as the team expands to a two-car effort.
The 28-year-old from California will also partner Random Vandals’ Team Principal and Bronze-rated driver, Paul Sparta, in at least six rounds of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
A class champion of the Daytona 24 Hours in 2017, Koch spent the past three seasons in GT4 America with BSport Racing. Together with co-driver Bryan Putt, he took four Pro-Am class wins and two overall victories in their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. In 2022, Koch also picked up a pair of MPC victories driving a Mercedes-AMG GT4 for Murillo Racing, and also ran a partial campaign in the GT4 European Series.
“I am really excited to jump onboard with Random Vandals, immediately taking the position of ‘Tallest Vandal’ for the team!” exclaimed Koch, he of 193cm (6’4″) in stature.
“BSPort felt like a family to me, and I was very sad when that came to an end. But I do feel like I’m going from one family to another. Everyone is super friendly and energized to win! It should be a good year. Also, I can’t wait to try out the new BMW M4 GT4 platform.”
“Kenton and I have been competitors for the last two years in GT4 America, though in different classes. With RVR moving to a two-car effort, the addition of Kenton to the team is hugely beneficial overall. Our intention is to win championships, and the work toward that end has already started,” said Sparta, who drove RVR’s first-generation M4 to class wins at Sebring in each of the past two seasons.
Sparta will once again partner Al Carter in Random Vandals’ Am class entry, their third season together.
RVR is already testing their new, second-generation M4s in preparation for their first race with the new car – which will be on 15 March, the second round of the Michelin Pilot Challenge at Sebring.
Two weeks later, they’ll head to Sonoma Raceway in California for the start of the GT4 America season on 30 March-2 April.
