Albert is a financial app offering automatic savings tools, cash accounts, cash-back rewards, auto-investing, and much more (see our complete review of Albert Cash and Savings). On the investments side, it offers self-directed trading and automated portfolios, but you'll need to pay at least $8 per month to utilize these services.
The company also has a team of experts (it calls them "geniuses") who are available to answer any questions you have about financial topics. But its investment and account type selection is limited.

Ways to invest Albert
Albert Investing
You'll have to subscribe to Albert Genius in order to take advantage of the platform's investment products. While there's no account opening or trading fees (though you'll need $1 to start investing) for Albert's individual brokerage accounts, Albert says it lets its customers choose what they think is a fair price for Albert Genius, and it currently lets you pay as low as $8 per month.
On the investing side, you'll be able to trade commission-free stocks and ETFs.
Self-directed investing and Genius Portfolios
Once you set up and fund your account, you'll have the choice of three different investment approaches: self-managed, Portfolio by Genius, or both.
The self-managed option lets you filter through multiple themes — such as "U.S. companies" or "Global"— to select and invest in the securities that best fit your preferences.
Portfolio by Genius, on the other hand, is a better option for hands-off investors. It creates a diversified portfolio for you after you complete information about your risk tolerance, time horizon, and investment goals. Genius then builds an automated portfolio with a conservative, moderate, or aggressive risk profile.
Albert also offers an auto-investing tool that you can use for both the self-managed and Portfolio by Genius trading accounts. This feature lets you set a schedule for withdrawals from your bank account into your investment portfolio(s). Albert says it can allocate this money into your investments on a weekly, monthly, or semimonthly (twice a month) basis.
