I’m a mum of two & I got pregnant on purpose at 17 & again at 19 – people assume it was a mistake but they’re wrong
WHEN it comes to teenage pregnancy, most people assume the pregnancy was an accident or the result of poor use of contraception.
But one woman is trying to show the world that is always the case.
Alex is 24 years old mum she had her first child at 17, she then had another child at 19 but Alex actually got pregnant on purpose.
In a video online she said: “Something that isn’t talked about enough is how teen pregnancy isn’t always an accident.”
Alex explained how even she believed the stereotype about teen pregnancy.
She said: “I didn’t realise it was as common until I started talking to the online community of teen moms and continued the conversation on my platform which consisted of adolescents aspiring to be teen parents or ones who succeeded.”
Alex explained she got pregnant at 17 on purpose to fill a void in her life.
She continued: “I would say roughly 70% of us had one thing in common – wanting to create the love we didn’t receive in our childhood.”
Alex said: “But you can’t heal any wound by adding yet another traumatic situation on top of it. And as a 24 year old woman today, I finally get it and can’t be more thankful it ended up okay for us because I was making really big decisions before my brain was even fully developed.”
Alex explained she wished she had waited till she was older to have kids.
She said: “I finally get how big the world is now and how I want to give every ounce of it to my kids but how much harder it will be because I robbed some of the most important years for myself FROM myself.”
Alex said she hoped to spread the message to other women in a similar situation.

She said: “Which isn’t just selfish to my own development, but to my kids. I want to be loud in the conversation to prevent the false narrative continuously circulating in the media today glorifying teen pregnancy because I promise no vlog, show, or post are depicting the realities of being a young parent.”
Alex’s video went viral with over 1.2 million views.
Many viewers shared their experiences with teen pregnancy.
One commenter said: “Literally exactly why my parents had me at 16/17. Looking for love they didn’t get at home.”
Another commenter said: “Had a baby at 19 because I thought it would heal my trauma now I’m 24 with 3 kids and still got that trauma.”
A third commenter said: “Being a teen pregnancy myself, please wait. it feels like you’re both kids growing up together.”
In another video Alex spoke up about the difficulties of being a single mum.
She said: “Big shout out to all the single moms stepping up and doing what they have to for those babies. ITS HARD and we don’t get enough credit.”
