Breakfast lovers are shelling out more money to enjoy the most important meal of the day.
A dozen eggs cost $1.79 in December 2021, and the same eggs cost $4.25 one year later, according US Department of Labor.
The price of whole milk is nearly $0.50 higher than in December 2021.
The price of white bread hit a national average of $1.87 in December 2022 – more than $0.30 more than in the same month in 2021, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
The average price of oranges in the US is $1.49 per pound as of December. It's a slight bump up from the 2021 average of $1.45 and a dip from the October 2022 average of $1.73.

Unlike eggs, the average price of bacon in the US has decreased since December 2021 – going from $7.24 to $6.96 in December 2022. However, it's still up nearly 20% from the 2020 average cost of $5.58, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
