Adams for me is an all action high energy player, he's a presser (that's why he was at Leipzig and New York Red Bulls).Interesting. I hadn't really thought of Roca for that role but it might make sense and allow Adams to keep doing what he is doing.
I definitely think we have enough at the club to not be a defensive mess without having to sacrifice too much attacking flair.
Nagelsmann did use him in more of a deeper role however but I don't think that is his best role.
Think that was Nagelsmann trying to help him become a more rounded player.
Roca though came through as that classic deep lying playmaker, a Xabi Alonso type player.
He isn't a presser or a runner (he's slow) Victor and his spreadsheet signed him because he progresses the ball well(passes forward).
Stands to reason he'd pass forward because he played deep, logical.
So I actually think Roca in a slower less hectic style is the better technical player, I think he's the more intelligent player and the better technical footballer.
I think the style under Marsch is chaos, to crowded, its hard for him to get his head up and spread play etc.
That's why Adams seems the better player, he suits that chaos.
But in a deeper role I think Roca could shine, after all Bayern signed him for just that role and they aren't stupid.
I don't think Roca will ever impress in a Marsch style, it doesn't play to his strengths.
Unless Marsch adapts it to allow him to do so.
