The zilla panchayat of Mangaluru district has issued a circular to the executive officers of all taluks in the district, advising them to take measures to prevent instances of burning plastic and other waste materials in public. The reason given for this is that this is a serious issue that is causing health problems and contributing to pollution. The zilla panchayat has also directed taluks to ensure that recycling is done instead of burning waste.
