A mass wedding ceremony was held at the religious site of Suttur on Thursday, and 114 couples were married. Couples belonging to different castes and those who are physically challenged or widows participated in the ceremony. Nine intercaste couples and one interreligious couple were married. Earlier, the bridegrooms dressed in white and entered with their partners in a procession of folk troupes. It was a visual treat for many who attended the ceremony. The brides were presented with a saree, a blouse, and a toe ring, and the grooms were given a dhoti, a shirt, and a shawl. Mass feeding was organized for the newlyweds and their relatives at the Basaveshwara students hostel.
