Coronation Street fans slam ‘ridiculous’ blunder as Summer Spellman is rushed to hospital
THROWN and locked in a room without her insulin, Summer Spellman was later found unconscious.
But while in hospital, Coronation Street fans were baffled that Billy Mayhew didn’t spot danger lurking in the shadows.
ITV viewers have learned to spot blunders in soap land over the years and another mistake left them scratching their heads during Wednesday’s instalment of the Manchester-based drama.
In recent scenes, Summer Spellman (portrayed by Harriet Bibby) uncovered creepy Mike Hargrave’s (Tom Lorcan) big secret.
Determined to get to the bottom of things, the youngster decided to confront him… only to be locked in a nursery without her insulin.
Mike held Summer hostage out of fear she would expose his affair to his wife Esther (former Waterloo Road star Vanessa Hehir).
Unfortunately, as experienced in the past, Summer eventually suffered another diabetic episode and fell unconscious.
Summer was thus taken to hospital and her guardian Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) kept vigil at her bedside in the latest episode of the long-running program.
Although she’s still recovering from her health scare, Summer ushered Billy to catch up with his work and he obliged.
But as the vicar left the hospital room, Mike stepped out from behind the curtain, revealing he had been hidden in the room the entire time.
Corrie fans were left with their jaws dropped as, in their eyes, there would have been no way Billy could have missed Mike.
As the latter issued chilling threats, many viewers rushed over to Twitter to comment on the blunder.
One of them penned: “As if Billy didn’t see Mike when leaving. Do they think we’re thick?”
“So Billy didn’t see Mike hiding behind the curtain round the hospital bed? Should have gone to Specsavers”, another viewer echoed.
Billy may have missed Mike but Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) certainly didn’t.
Mike quickly fled the scene as the pair ran after him to stop him from causing more harm to Summer.
“Why do you care? She’s not your daughter”, Mike snapped and insinuated that Paul could be preying on Summer.
Disgusted by Mike’s words, Paul physically lashed out at him and retaliated with a punch in the jaw.
