Classroom horror as girl, 17 dies after being bitten by venomous black mamba just 20 minutes after deadly school attack
A STUDENT tragically died after she got bitten by a venomous black mamba snake that entered her classroom.
Melody Chiputura, 17, screamed in horror when she felt a sting on her thigh as she sat at her desk.
Panic erupted as horrified teachers and students discovered the deadly snake had somehow entered the school.
The 17-year-old was rushed to the hospital but died 20 minutes later.
Rushinga High School headteacher Christopher Murenga told the Herald Zimbabwe: “She immediately cried out, saying that something had bitten her.
“We are all in shock. We have no idea where this snake came from. The classroom is far away from possible snake habitats.”
The student was buried near her home, as it is still unknown how the snake got into the classroom.
It is speculated the snake might have entered the school’s grounds when all students were outside doing sports activities.
The lethal snake was eventually killed by other students, according to local media.
Melody’s heartbroken father Joseph Chipitura said: “This is hard to accept, and it is painful.
“I don’t understand how a snake can get into a classroom and bite my daughter.”
The black mamba is the second-longest venomous behind the king cobra.
