Mrs Hinch fans reveal the easy 5p trick which stops stairs creaking and it works immediately
CLEANING FANS have revealed the 5p hack to stop your staircase from creaking instantly.
There’s nothing worse than trying to sneak downstairs after putting your baby down for a nap only to fear for your life as you step down onto a creaking stair.
Fortunately, Mrs Hinch cleaning fans have revealed the 5p way to stop them from making any noise.
Ever since cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, otherwise known as Sophie Hinchliffe, took to Instagram, cleaning tips and tricks have become more and more popular.
There are even Facebook groups where cleaning fanatics share their hacks for getting their homes spotless.
Posting to the Facebook group Mrs Hinch DIY tips and tricks, a woman wrote: “Can anyone please recommend or advise how to stop my stairs from creaking.
“It’s an open tread natural wood staircase that’s driving me mad.”
Fellow cleaning fans were quick to help the mum find ways to quieten her noisy staircase.
Many people suggested sprinkling talk and filling the cracks in the wood with it.
One wrote: “Definitely talcum powder.
“Sprinkle it on the stair and brush into every crack.”
Another person agreed, writing: “Sometimes talc helps.”
A third suggested: “Put talc down.”
Meanwhile, a fourth added that a lack of moisture could be the problem.
She wrote: “Ours were fine when we moved to this house a couple of years ago then we started using a dehumidifier every day and now they creak like crazy, I guess it’s actually taken the moisture out of them as well”
Talcum powder can be purchased for as little as £1.50 for 400g in Sainsburys.
You can get 30 uses out of a 400g bottle for just 5p.
