Jesse Marsch pre Brentford
Stuart, Archie and Cree. Cree on the pitch next week. Rutter in the squad. Numbers situation. Inching towards full capacity.
Important performances
After the Villa match they knew they played well, but it hurt them not to win. Had to keep pushing this thing in the week. Brentford in a really good way. Clear on who they want to be and today was a day focused entirely on set-plays.
Rutter - impact in training?
Take him a little time, just like with Wober, this is not waiting forever to acclimate. Needs to help us as quickly as possible. Understands a lot of the concepts. Ready to contribute on Sunday
Selection headache?
Thankful to our ownership in investing so heavily. Weapons. Fast, clever, talent and have technical ability and intelligence. Blend that all together. Use our playing model to help the group score goals.
Wober and Forshaw?
Adam won't be, but Max will be fine.
Players reaction to that poor report on mutiny?
They were angry. They came to me. They want everyone to know we are together. I said they were angry. I can be criticised for a lot of things. Results not good enough. That's enough fodder. Don't need to create anything else. Quality of people inside this club is like nothing else. You can knock us for the results, but to question the character of what we have created is totally off base. Wanted to cut that out immediately
Max Dean?
Been a delicate balance in maintaining enough young players to feed within to what we want to achieve. Not like we wanted to lose Max Dean. Opportunity he could have, we were all pleased to help Jacko.
Cooper?
Should be ready as well.
Mention final day of last year?
No, we looked at the last game with them and what we did well or badly in that game. Strategies. What does Brentford want the game to look like? What do we want the game to look like?
Why not discussing transfers?
Keeps the focus on our team and allows our board to manage the market better.
Gnonto a special case with young players who normally get drip-fed minutes?
Don't think I subscribe to that philosophy. My goal is to accelerate their learning curve. When they get a sharp upturn in performance they can then sustain a lot of things they've learned. Trying to manage physically and what the matches are like. Cardiff domination meant we could give out some more rests. That will give them a better chance to regenerate for
Might fans now be disappointed to see some players not play?
More important is every player knows whether they are starting or coming off the bench and being ready to maximise their impact minute by minute.
Every player wants to play every minute, but to sustain the way we want to play for 90 minutes it's important to rotate.
Pressure on coach and player after record fee?
I try not to ever think about the money at any point with a nythung, I see it as maximising the potential of every person across the club. Knowing Georgi, it does not not factor in with him too much. Light way of enjoying football if not jovial. Those qualities will help him manage the league/media/expectation
Gelhardt?
Still in the the building and trained today.
Players came to you?
Some came together, some came separately. Was not a huge statement. Interact here like we are teammates. Supoort each other always. Very thankful for the club, players and leadership. Special here.
Biggest games of your tenure?
Good to get a win, but it did not change anything.
