A group of doctors and nurses were found absent from their posts during a surprise inspection by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on Thursday. The CMO found several irregularities regarding cleanliness and hygiene at two health facilities - Chauma and Laxmi Nagar - and issued show cause notices to one doctor and two nurses at Chauma. An explanation has been sought from those who were found absent all were directed to ensure compliance in future. The Chauma center was found locked and no information regarding its closure was displayed near or on the center. The CMO also issued show cause notices to a doctor and nurse at Laxmi Nagar. If the doctors and nurses do not reply satisfactorily, their salaries may be stopped for a day.
