Edu pilot project gets good response
The mangaluru pilot project titled "quality education in primary school" is an initiative by NGO Padivalored. It has garnered positive outcomes, including the ability to implement and create awareness regarding the RTE Act 2009 and Child Rights Act. Representatives from 24 ulbs and gram panchayats participated in a district-level interaction programme to discuss the implementation of the pilot project held here on Friday. The pilot project was initiated in 2020 after the NGO survey findings revealed that only the Department of Public Instruction has been implementing the RTE Act across schools in both coastal districts, despite the fact that the RTE Act clearly states that it is the responsibility of ulbs or local bodies to implement it too they have failed so a pilot project was undertaken in 24 local authorities including urban authorities. It covered 9 and 15 local bodies in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts, respectively. A total of 24 resources from the NGO were trained to implement the project. "The outcome is positive and we were also able to come up with suggestions for amendments to the RTE Act that will be submitted to the government," said Renni D'souza from Padia Panchayat Member. He shared the story of a schoolgirl who was able to approach the Gram P
