ISIS Suicide Bomber Eliminated In Syria’s Daraa
On January 21, a man known to be a member of ISIS was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the southern Syrian city of Daraa.
The dead body of the terrorist, identified as Rabie al-Masalmah, was found in the area of al-Nakhlah in southern part of Daraa city, commonly known as Daraa al-Balad. An explosive belt was found on the body.
The slain terrorist was reportedly working with Mohamad al-Masalmah, a local commander of ISIS who is also known as “Hafu”. Between August and November, Syrian government forces and local fighters carried out a large operation against ISIS cells in Daraa al-Balad. Back then, only Hafu and few other members of the group managed to flee the city.
It’s unclear yet who eliminated Hafu’s man in Daraa al-Balad. It is possible that he was killed in a special operation by Syrian security forces.
Just a day earlier, security forces eliminated a security commander of ISIS known as Muhammad al-Shaghouri during a raid that took place in the town of al-Muzayrib in the western Daraa countryside. Two of al-Shaghouri’s guards, Ahmed al-Masry and Mohsen Zitawi, were killed along with him.
ISIS built a large presence in Daraa and other parts of southern Syria in recent years. The terrorist group’s cells carried out 34 operations in the region and killed 51 people in the past seven months, according to a recent report by the group’s official al-Naba newspaper.
