EastEnders’ Shiv Jalota devastated after heartbreaking death of a family member
EASTENDERS star Shiv Jalota has been left devastated after the heartbreaking death of a close family member.
The actor – who is best known for playing the youngest member of Walford’s Panesar family – told fans about his loss on Instagram today.
The 29-year-old is well known for plays Vinny Panesar in the hit BBC One soap.
But today he revealed his sadness at the death of his beloved nan.
Taking to Instagram, he shared a sweet snap of his grandma and another family member.
Across the picture he wrote: “Saying goodbye to our Nan Sue today.
“RIP you beautiful being.”
Shiv Jalota joined EastEnders in October 2019 playing the role Vinny, the youngest brother of the Panesar family.
Since arriving in Albert Square the Panesar family has constantly found themselves entangled in drama and scandals and they have all instantly become a hit with EastEnders viewers.
Shiv’s character gets away with misbehaviour, including a dodging prison after hitting Martin Fowler over the head during a robbery.
The actor got the acting bug after he attended the National Youth Theatre back in 2013 when he was younger.
In an interview with Eastern Eye, Shiv credited the theatre company for helping him break into the entertainment industry.
“It massively helped me – the NYT basically trained me (as an actor),” Shiv said. “It’s definitely shaped me as a performer and given me so much confidence.”
He added: “It has given me the strength to realise that if you want to perform or be backstage or on stage or behind the camera, to just go for it.
“Fail, make mistakes but learn in the moment and that’s so important for any actor coming into it – learning in the moment and being present in the moment.
“That is what the NYT has taught me.”
