Over the years, we have probably heard this region of the country referred to many times at the “Rust Belt” — a derisive term describing the greater Midwest and portions of the northeast as an area where a once thriving manufacturing base has retracted significantly, and its factories have fallen victim to the deterioration caused by the elements.
