Mangaluru senior advocate and forensic expert Dr Mahabalesh Shetty and advocate Manoraj Rajeeva, vicepresident of the Mangaluru Bar Association, petitioned the Karnataka High Court to take cognisance of the Mangaluru Ganja’ case that resulted in the arrest of several medical doctors and medical and dental students. They allege that the available evidence is insufficient to ensure conviction of drug peddlers and addicts, and that the state government should be held responsible for the fallout from the case.
