A man working in a plastic factory in Rajkot was approached by two women who tried to extort money from him. The women, Dhara Babariya and Meena Solanki, were booked for blackmail and trying to extort money from Vasudev Vaghrodiya. Vaghrodiya knew the two women as they both worked in a factory near his unit. He had earlier approached them to work in his factory, but Meena had borrowed Rs 7000 from him saying that there was a medical emergency at her home. A few days later, when Vaghrodiya asked for his money back, Meena proposed a deal - she would introduce him to her friend, who was seeking a relationship in lieu of the Rs 7000 she owed him. Vaghrodiya agreed, and the two started talking and their friendship developed. On January 21, Vaghrodiya and Dhara went to Sokhda to hang out together. The next day, Vaghrodiya got a call from Dhara asking him for Rs 15 lakh. She told Vaghrodiya that she had recorded a video of his indecent act while in Sokhda and threatened to make it viral if he did not shell out the money.
