Leeds United Chat • Re: Jesse Marsch half season poll
In terms of form Forest are ahead of us, not just over 1,2,3,4,5 games but 12 gamesSee, I don't really think Forest are that much improved. I'd easily take Leeds at even money to finish ahead of them even though they're 3 points ahead right now. I'd probably even lay odds at 2:3.
I believe Forest have won 4 one-goal games (out of 5 total wins) and lost 4 by three or more, for an overall GD of -19. Leeds have won 1 one-goal game and lost 1 by three, overall GD -7. If there's a "skill" to arranging your goals match by match so you sometimes do just a little better than your opponents, and to concede more goals when it's already 0-2 or 0-3, Forest have mastered that. But it's probably not a sustainable skill.
Bournemouth are trying to improve like everyone but that doesn't mean they will. Out of Everton, Bournemouth, Southampton, Wolves, and Forest, maybe one or two of them outrun Leeds (or Forest's luck persists). It's less likely three of the five finish well. And that's leaving aside Leicester and West Ham who are in the same boat as Leeds.
Forest have taken 17 points to our 9.
Take August out of the league we are 19th only ahead of Southampton.
Whether we want to admit it or not we are one of the worst teams in the league form wise for the majority of the season.
We have been in relegation form since August, there is only 1 team worse.
Forest have actually got 7 more points than us since August.
The way we look at teams like Forest is exactly the way they will look at us.
We can talk about xG and Jesse can talk about how it was great performances or whatever but points count and bar a very decent start to the season that has long since diminished we would be comfortable in the bottom 3.
Even if we win our game in hand we are still 17th form wise since August.
2 teams need improvement and fast most of all, us and Southampton.
The majority of the bottom 5 or 6 have sacked there managers.
How long do we persist because time isn't on our side?
Things need to change and fast, Jesse Marsch whatever anyone thinks of him as things will go down as one of those managers we look back on and laugh.
In a "could be worse, remember when Hecky was here" way.
He is right down there statistically with Heckingbottom and Hockaday and people like that as things stand.
One of the worst records of any Leeds manager ever.
If he doesn't want to be one of those managers he needs wins and he needs them very soon
