[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Tournament Pairings Announced
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (TOURNAMENT PAGE) - The bracket for the 2023 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Basketball has been announced with the top eight teams qualifying. The tournament opens Feb. 22 with the higher seeds hosting. Seeds were determined based on the final regular seasongs and tiebreakers were for three seeds: No. 2, No. 4, and No. 8.
Indiana Tech grabbed the top seed after capturing the conference championship with an 18-2 WHAC record. The Warriors host No. 8 Lourdes (6-14) after LU got the head-to-head tiebreaker over Aquinas for the final spot. After tying for second place with 15-4 records, Siena Heights edged out Rochester for the No. 2 seed based on the head-to-head tiebreaker. SHU hosts No. 7 UNOH (8-12) while Rochester hosts No. 6 Lawrence Tech (9-11). Concordia and Cornerstone tied for fourth place with 13-7 records and will play each other. Concordia got the No. 4 seed based on the wins against higher seeds.
The semifinals are slated for Feb. 24 with the championship game on Feb. 27. As regular season champion, Indiana Tech receives the league's first automatic bid to the NAIA National Opening Round March 7-8 on campus sites. The tournament champion receives the second berth (tournament runner-up should the winner already have a berth).
